The course – (Introduction 2) of Every Student a Musician is the continuation of first semester learning of rudiment of music and musical instruments. After learning the basics of music theory, the next is to introduce playing of instruments and singing which is the core aspect of this course. This study begins with sounding of musical instruments. It is a stage where students get familiar with the techniques of sounding good tone on their musical instruments. Students have the opportunity to make diverse choices of musical instruments from the variety provided by the university. This experience of making sound on the instrument is derived in active practice. This course will enable students to get acquainted with their sound and differentiate it from other species of instruments. Producing good tone on musical instrument or voice also begins at this stage. The importance of the course lies in achieving the sustainable techniques for proper articulation on the musical instruments or voice which will guide them all through lifetime of playing or singing.  This course will help students to identify and locate keys on their instruments. It is a stage where students are familiarized with their instrument’s keys, frets, fingerboard etc through numerous physical practices. As an application-based course, the study incorporates an aspect of maintenance and repairs for sustainability of the musical instruments in good condition for practice. Beyond the afore mentioned, the course will help the students to focus exclusively on more practical lessons than history with regards to playing/singing Scale of C major, afterwards, Playing/singing of a simple song on Key C concert or any other key considered more appropriate to the chosen instruments. This course develops students’ ability to sing/play major Chord I-IV-V on C major scale after that diversify to scale of A minor harmonic and melodic with the corresponding minor chords i-iv-v on A Minor.  The course objectives, learning outcomes and contents are designed to achieve this.

THIS COURSE IS IN LINE WITH THE VISION OF MOUNTAIN TOP UNIVERSITY WHERE EVERY STUDENTS ARE EMPOWERED TO EXCELL. AT ESM WE FACILITATE STUDENTS ON THE RUDIMENT OF MUSIC BOTH IN  THEORETICAL AND PRATICAL ASPECT.

This course helps the students develop the ability to understand rhythm as the fundamental element of music. Hence, it is the first practice to be experienced in a beginners’ music class.  Students develop sense of rhythm which helps in building psychomotor and in turn helps human faculty and coordination of reasonings. Learning of rhythms is a stage that prepares the students for sight reading of musical notes, its notation and interpretation. This course will introduce staff notation to students in order to enable them construct their own melodies and rhythm.  The course develops the students’ critical abilities to sight read, sight play and sight sing musical pieces through sight reading exercises on clef, staff, key signature, time signature and intervals. After acquiring the knowledge of the rudiments of music, the students begin the lessons on musical instruments. The later part of this course focuses on introduction to musical instruments of various species according to the choices of the students while further training continues in subsequent semesters. The course objectives, learning outcomes and contents are designed to achieve this.
